Every once in a while a news story breaks about how someone saw Jesus in a tortilla, or Mary in a pancake. I usually scoff at it, and when I'm a bit more "sanctified" in my perspective, I am just sad at the hunger (no pun intended) to find spiritual satisfaction outside of scripture. Well, … Continue reading Lydia…The Shrine

Pursuing Life…
My daughter has a pretty stout vocabulary. Sometimes in her attempt to say words and phrases beyond her years, she mixes phrases. One of my favorites is "hit the bucket." Somewhere she heard the phrase "kick the bucket" referring to death, and was fascinated, but somehow cannot seem to get the phrase quite right. I keep thinking … Continue reading Pursuing Life…
What is Worship?
In light of our current mini-series, Worship by Design, I thought you might benefit from this video by Mark Driscoll, pastor of Mars Hill Church in Seattle...great insight!
Review of The Shack
Many of you have either read The Shack or at least heard about it. I've had several conversations with people about this book. I have not read it yet, though (probably the greatest frustration of doctoral work is putting other reading aside). I have read several reviews and commentaries, however. I wanted to provide … Continue reading Review of The Shack
I’ve never been a huge fan of boycotts, but…
Yesterday the AP News released an ARTICLE telling about Hallmark's decision to promote a line of same-sex marriage cards. Other smaller companies have done the same, but this is the first of the largest companies in the greeting card industry to promote same-sex marriage. One Take on Modern Evangelicalism…

I thought you could benefit from reading a view of a journalist who would (most likely) NOT hold to the beliefs of the readers of this blog. I think it's important for you to be informed of some of the … Continue reading One Take on Modern Evangelicalism…
Presidential Candidates @ Saddleback…
I did not get to watch the whole forum, but I read much from the transcript and others commentaries on the event. I found Al Mohler's BLOG particularly insightful and worthwhile. It is important to remember two things when we deal with candidates and the church: 1) The church and/or pastor cannot endorse a candidate. … Continue reading Presidential Candidates @ Saddleback…
Ask the Right Question…
The following is by Voddie Baucham, a friend and faithful preacher of the Word of God.
Reading List…
I get asked about reading suggestions pretty often. Knowing that you all are not at all busy enough (you know with school starting, athletics, all that stuff), I thought you might enjoy this not-so-brief list (thanks 9Marks): APOLOGETICS Stanley Jaki, The Savior of Science (Scottish Academic Press) Philip Johnson, Darwin on Trial (IVP) Philip Johnson, Objections … Continue reading Reading List…
You need a BIG God…
This, from Charles Spurgeon's "Morning and Evening": "The Lord reigneth, let the earth rejoice."—Psalm 97:1. CAUSES for disquietude there are none so long as this blessed sentence is true. On earth the Lord's power as readily controls the rage of the wicked as the rage of the sea; His love as easily refreshes the poor with mercy … Continue reading You need a BIG God…
