Rooted… A New Discipleship Class

Beginning this Sunday, January 15th, I will be starting a new Discipleship Class called Rooted.  This class is designed for those who desire to be discipled as well as those who desire to be equipped to disciple others.  Really, there is no division between the two, because if you are discipled well you are exhorted to disciple others, so it goes hand in hand.

This class is also part of my doctoral project, so I’m excited about the very real connection between my education and the benefit of the church, which is central to my doctorate anyway.  We could use a few more to round out the class.  At this point there are 9 signed up, but would like to see closer to 20 involved in the class.  So, encourage some others you may feel would be interested in this class.

The class will run 15 weeks, so it will take you out of Bible Fellowships for the semester, so keep that in mind.  If you have any questions, be sure to email me at mlumpkin@ubcfayetteville.org.

For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For whoever lacks these qualities is so nearsighted that he is blind, having forgotten that he was cleansed from his former sins. 10 Therefore, brothers, be all the more diligent to make your calling and election sure, for if you practice these qualities you will never fall. 11 For in this way there will be richly provided for you an entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

2 Peter 1:5-11
