Expectations, Joy & Weather-filled Acts of Sovereignty

The Spiritual Formation Conference with Don Whitney is scheduled for this weekend (Friday evening & Saturday morning).  The forecast includes some possible snow / ice on Friday.  As we all know, the weather is unpredictable in NWA.  I have a strange joy in weather changes.  I’d like to think it’s because it puts on display God’s sovereign work, but I realize that my affinity for change also comes into play (you know, like the stuff on top of my head…small playground of change for a pastor who needs to portray godly consistency).

Do I feel the same way when one of our biggest events of the year could be (partially) threatened?  Well, yes.  Besides the fact that it seems to me to be particularly ridiculous to fret over something that is wildly out of my control, I believe that God has a plan.  So, I find joy in being flexible.

Practically speaking, if it does appear to be dangerous to have our conference on Friday evening, then we will MOST LIKELY adjust the schedule to begin on Saturday morning at 10:00AM and continue (with a lunch break) into the afternoon until the conference is complete (probably around 4:00ish).  I just want to give you a “heads up” in case this becomes an issue.  I hope that it does not and that our existing schedule can remain intact.

In any case, this is going to be an incredible weekend.  If you have not signed up, please remember you may do so at the door.  We will begin Friday evening (weather permitting) at 6:45 PM (sharp!).  If you would like to come a little early and just prepare your heart and mind for the teaching, John Mueller will be leading a brief time of pre-conference worship through song beginning at about 6:30 PM.
